Julii Cory
Corydoras julii
Callichthyidae

About
The julii cory is a small, finely spotted armored catfish from coastal river systems of northeastern Brazil, prized for the crisp black speckling and reticulated head pattern that give it the nickname leopard cory. The true species is rarely traded and is very commonly confused with the near-identical three-line cory (Corydoras trilineatus). Peaceful and gregarious, it patrols the bottom in busy shoals, sifting soft sand on sensitive barbels and thriving in a calm, well-planted community.
Care
Keep a shoal of 6 or more over soft, clean sand with gentle flow in soft to neutral water. Pair only with peaceful tankmates and feed sinking foods directly to the bottom.
Diet
Omnivorous scavenger that forages the substrate; offer sinking wafers and micro-pellets plus frozen or live bloodworm, daphnia and brine shrimp, ensuring food reaches the bottom.

What works for this species, most reliable first.
- Width from aboveStrong · from about 8 months, once they are adult-sized
Corydoras are sexed from directly above, never from the side. Look down at the group while they rest on the sand.
- Bristles and cheek spinesA hint only · from about a year
Male plecos grow odontodes — spiny growths on the cheeks and along the leading pectoral rays. Bristlenose males additionally grow branching tentacles across the snout and over the top of the head.
