Soft-water South American
80 × 35 × 40 cm · 112 l
A biotope-flavoured tank with a real centrepiece. Borelli's is the dwarf cichlid to start with: it stays under 7 cm, tolerates a wider temperature range than its cousins, and does not need the tank to itself.
What the engine says
Using about 14% of the tank's bioload capacity, on weekly 25% water changes. Engine 0.1.2.

Why it works
Read the water window before anything else — pH 6–6.5 and GH 2–8 is genuinely soft, which Lithuanian tap water is not. This is an RO tank, or a tank for somebody on a well with soft water. Everything else here is generous: the cardinals are unbothered by the cichlid, the sterbai handle warmth better than most corys, and a pair of borelli's will spawn in a flowerpot without anybody intervening.
