Why it works
A single pair of honey gouramis gives the tank a centre without giving it a bully; harlequins shoal tightly enough to read as one moving shape; bronze corys are hardy enough to survive a beginner's first mistakes and social enough to look happy doing it. The water window is unusually wide for a three-species tank, which is exactly why this combination survived: it forgives a tap that is not quite ideal.
