The stocking
Why it works
Six gouramis rather than a pair: in a group the males display at each other constantly and the whole tank comes alive, while a pair spends most of its time hiding. Habrosus corys are the smallest of the group-forming corydoras and suit a 60 cm floor without crowding it. Both species dislike current — a filter you can turn down matters more here than filter capacity.
