Three levels of the tank occupied by three small species, none of which grows into a problem. This is the shape a 54 litre tank is best at, and it stays interesting for years.

The stocking
Why it works
Celestial pearl danios hold the middle, pygmy corys work the bottom in a real group rather than the sad trio shops sell, and the amanos clean up after both. Six amanos, not five — our own engine flags a smaller group, and a published stocking that trips our own check would not be worth reading. The danios display best with more females than males; two females per male keeps the sparring ornamental instead of exhausting.
