Staurogyne Repens
Staurogyne repens
Acanthaceae

About
Staurogyne repens is a compact, bright-green stem plant from the Rio Cristalino in the southern Amazon basin, prized in aquascaping as a low foreground or midground carpet. Its short creeping stems throw out small oval leaves and hug the substrate under good light, while stretching more upright in dim tanks. More forgiving than a true carpeting plant, it rewards trimming with a dense, cushiony mat.
Care
Plant individual stems spaced apart in a nutrient substrate, give moderate light and root plus column ferts, and trim regularly to build a low, bushy carpet. CO2 is not essential but produces the tightest, greenest growth.
Diet
Feeds through both roots and leaves; benefits from root tabs in inert substrate alongside a balanced column dose of nitrogen, phosphate, potassium and iron.
