About
Red root floater is a small South American floating plant whose round leaves blush deep red and whose dangling roots turn crimson under strong light. It multiplies quickly across the surface, providing shade, cover and rapid nutrient export in low-flow tanks. Bright light and good nutrients bring out its striking red colouration, while low light keeps it green.
Care
Float it on a calm surface with bright light for red colour, keep humidity high under the lid, and thin it regularly. Dislikes strong surface agitation.
Diet
A water-column feeder with roots and leaves that rapidly take up nitrate and iron; rich water plus intense light drive the red pigment.
