About

Dwarf sagittaria is a hardy grass-like rosette plant from the Americas that sends out runners to knit together a bright green lawn across the foreground and midground. Undemanding and fast to establish, it thrives without CO2 in low to moderate light and famously tolerates hard, alkaline water, making it an easy carpeting alternative to fussier hairgrass.

Care

Plant individual rosettes in nutrient-rich substrate with the crown exposed, give low to moderate light, and let runners fill in the lawn. No CO2 needed, but root tabs and gentle column dosing speed the carpet.

Diet

Primarily a root feeder that draws nutrients from the substrate while absorbing some from the water column; root tabs and iron dosing prevent yellowing and fuel dense runner growth.
