About
Anubias barteri is a slow-growing West African aroid prized for its thick, dark-green leaves and near-indestructible nature. Like Java fern it is an epiphyte whose rhizome must be attached to hardscape rather than buried in substrate. Its tough foliage resists most herbivorous fish and offers virtually no palatability, making it ideal for cichlid and goldfish tanks.
Care
Glue or tie the rhizome to wood or rock, keep light modest to avoid algae on the slow leaves, and dose light fertiliser. Do not bury the rhizome.
Diet
Feeds mainly through the water column via leaves and roots; light liquid ferts keep leaves dark green but it survives lean tanks.
