Carolina Bacopa
Bacopa caroliniana
Plantaginaceae

About
Carolina bacopa is a hardy North American stem plant with pairs of thick, rounded, slightly succulent leaves that give off a faint lemon scent when crushed. Slow to moderate in growth and undemanding, it thrives without CO2 and forgives beginner mistakes, making it a dependable choice for background and midground planting. Under strong light and lean nutrients the upright tops flush an attractive copper to pink.
Care
Plant stems in the substrate with a little space between them, provide low to moderate light, and trim and replant the tops to keep growth bushy. No CO2 required, though it speeds things up.
Diet
Feeds from both roots and the water column; benefits from a nutrient-rich substrate and light column dosing, but grows steadily even in modestly fertilised low-tech tanks.
